Yinxu near Anyang

Yinxu archeological site

Anyang, in the north of Henan District, is an ancient city with a history of over 3,000 years. It is one of the Seven Ancient capitals of China.

Located about 2 kilometers northwest of Anyang City, Yinxu is believed to be the last capital of the ancient Shang Dynasty (1766 BC – 1050 BC), which was also known as the Yin Dynasty.

Many large tombs have been discovered in the excavations of Yinxu. The site is also famous for the discovery of oracle bones and their inscriptions, which are thought to be the beginings of Chinese characters and writings.

The Yin Ruins are listed on the Unesco World Heritage Site.
